Abstract

Narratives are essential to games and business process models because they provide a communication form closer to people's language, facilitating context transmission and understanding. In business process-based digital games (JDBPN), narratives help players' knowledge and immersion and represent the business process in a gameful form. However, designing narratives for JDBPN is not trivial. People responsible for narratives must know how to translate business process elements to narrative elements to be coherent. This research aims to present the Scripting Your Process (SYP), developed to support the project of narratives from business process models in an easy, viable, and replicable way. The SYP method is a research artifact built using the Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM). As predicted in the DSRM methodology, we demonstrated and evaluated the SYP method and analyzed the collected data using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The result evidenced that the SYP method reached the research goals and solved the problems satisfactorily, contributing to a gap in the narrative design for JDBPNs, and providing a possible approach to create alternative representations for business process models in narrative format.
