Factors that Influence Women's Professional Choices in Computing
Abstract
Promoting gender diversity, in careers that are male-dominate, is a fundamental task for us to achieve gender equality, as recommended by objective 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs. The focus of the discussion panel is to debate some factors that can boost or compromise gender diversity in Computing, in addition to promoting actions that aim to increase gender diversity in public or private institutions. Therefore, the panel will contain current data on the gap between genders in the area of Computing, some national and international actions carried out to work on this topic and present real examples of women who have developed or are developing an important role in the area of Computing. After the presentation of these contents, a discussion will be open to public participation through questions, suggestions and comments.
