A Lightweight Authentication Protocol for Advanced Metering Infrastructure in Smart Grid


Electric networks have evolved rapidly in recent years due to the integration of new technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and cyber-physical systems. This evolution brings optimization in the generation, distribution and consumption of energy, in addition to offering new services to customers, but these new services also bring new challenges in information security. This manuscript proposes a group authentication protocol for key management in an AMI infrastructure integrated with the cloud. The proposed protocol shows improvements in the security and performance index compared to other protocols.
