The Proceedings of the 8th Brazilian Symposium on Information and Computational Systems Security (SBSeg 2008) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Gramado/RS, from September 01-05, 2008. In this issue, the proceedings include 17 full papers. These papers were selected through a double-blind review, from a total of 56 full papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 30,3%. The event's program committee was coordinated by André Luiz Moura dos Santos (UECE) and Marinho Pilla Barcellos (UFRGS/PUCRS), who organized this volume.
