The Difficult Art of Planning and Monitoring Cost, Performance, and Quality When Adopting Agile Methods

Abstract

One of the biggest difficulties in managing IT projects when adopting agile methods is knowing the effort, cost, performance and quality of what is being developed. In most cases, through 'feeling', you have a budget and allocate a team for a set period, until the budget is consumed. Planning supported by a parametric, repeatable and auditable functional size estimation method allows you to effectively monitor performance and quality, act proactively on root causes and correct problems before completing activities, in addition to feeding a historical measurement base. Some information about a method is presented to make this possible.
