An Exploratory Analysis of Functionalities in Dedicated Digital Legacy Management Systems

Abstract

In the course of their lives, users generate large amounts of data that can be left for their designated heirs, if so desired. Dedicated Digital Legacy Management Systems (DDLMS) are those developed with the primary purpose of allowing the management of digital assets of their users, ensuring that the assets have the desired destination when the users die. Thus, this research aims to analyze the functionality of some DDLMS, to check if they meet the requirements already identified in the literature. The systems chosen for this exploratory research were Miigen, Afternote and Meu Último Desejo. These systems were analyzed considering the differences in the registration of legacies and the transfer of digital assets, and the results observed were qualitatively evaluated. The findings serve as a basis for the development of other systems.
