Heuristic Evaluation of Block Programming Tools
Abstract
Block programming tools have become popular to help children develop computational thinking and notions of programming while developing applications and games. However, these tools can present problems in their interfaces, hindering usability and, consequently, learning. Thus, there is a need to carry out an assessment to identify and classify these problems. This summary presents an assessment based on the heuristics proposed by Jakob Nielsen, who identified specific errors in the tools: Scratch, Scratch Jr and Tinkercard. It is important to note that there was no contact with the institutions responsible for the tools.
