Computational Thinking and Mathematical Modeling from the Perspective of Meaningful Learning: An Extended Summary

Abstract

This extended summary presents the thesis defended in the Postgraduate Program in Science and Mathematics Education (PPGECEM) at the Western Paraná State University (Unioeste), Cascavel Campus. It is multi-methodological research developed based on narrative and systematic literature reviews, theoretical paper, and field research in primary education, with data production and analysis from a grounded theory perspective. The results make it clear that a pedagogical practice based on the principles of Meaningful Learning contributes to the development of Thinking Computational and that this, in turn, can be a further promoter of Meaningful Learning, in a dialectical process of contribution, with Mathematical Modeling providing a methodological approach to guidance, as it allows the mobilization of the skill of Abstraction during practice.
