A Proposal for Resource Allocation in Fog Computing using TOPSIS

Abstract


Fog Computing is a paradigm that allows the provisioning of computing resources and services at the edge of the network, closer to end devices and users, with lower latency, complementing Cloud Computing. Heterogeneity, high geographic distribution and the large number of devices are challenges to achieve optimized resource allocation in this environment. This paper presents a proposal for the resource allocation process in fog computing using the multiple decision criteria algorithm called Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Tests performed in a real environment demonstrate that the proposal is capable of allocating the best resource among those available.
