Distributed Complex Event Processing Applied to Event Traffic Detection in Real-time

Abstract

Complex Event Processing is one of the most used techniques to process real-time data. CEP allows detection of events of interest from pattern recognition in input data. Here we present an implementation of a self-scalable microservice architecture for Complex Event Processing, capable of handling a large influx of data, such as ones generated by smart cities sensor measurements. A study case based on the detection of traffic problems of the São Paulo bus fleet was designed to evaluate this architecture.
