Temporal Performance Evaluation in Quantum Computing: A Study on Transpilation and Execution in Superposition and Entanglement Circuits

Abstract


Quantum computing emerges as a promising technology, particularly due to its potential to significantly reduce the processing time of complex algorithms. In this context, temporal efficiency becomes a crucial factor for its practical viability. This study investigates the relationship between transpilation time — the optimization stage of a quantum circuit prior to execution — and the actual execution time. Transpilation plays a fundamental role, as it adapts circuits to the constraints of quantum hardware, optimizing their structure and enabling execution on real devices. The results indicate that transpilation can account for more than 92% of the total processing time; however, its impact does not hinder the efficient execution of quantum circuits.
