Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of the effects of early introduction of electronic devices and screen use during childhood. The objective is to analyze the impacts related to prolonged screen use by children, as well as to identify the most appropriate age for this exposure. It also seeks to identify evidence-based guidelines for the healthy use of digital technologies in child development. The research was based on studies available on the Scopus, Science Direct, and Spring Link platforms, published between 2013 and 2023. It was concluded that early use of electronic devices can significantly impact child development, both positively and negatively. Supervision and balance in screen time are essential for promoting healthy development.
