Implementação de um serviço web para avaliação genética de pequenos ruminantes utilizando o Best Linear Unblased Prediction (BLUP)

Abstract


A key step in animal breeding programs is the genetic evaluation, that is, the identification of genetically superior individuals for traits of economic importance. One of the consolidated methods for calculating the genetic values of animals in evaluations is the resolution of the Best Linear Unblased Prediction (BLUP). However, due to the size of the system of linear equations that results from the BLUP resolution, it is necessary to use efficient computational systems. In this work, we present the implementation of a web service for the genetic evaluation of goat and sheep flocks using BLUP. To verify its functioning, an experiment was carried out, where the results were compared with another tool commonly used in genetic evaluations. The results of the experiment showed that the implemented tool can be used by breeders and researchers, facilitating the evaluation stage in the genetic improvement process of small ruminants.
