Use of Social Media to Detect Public Health Rumors

Abstract

The global epidemiological scenario has required improvements in public health surveillance systems, especially regarding the detection of rumors. One of the ways to assist in this detection is through social media information. This article presents the development of a conceptual framework to structure social media information to be analyzed in National Focal Point for International Health Regulation (NFP-IHR), supporting the capture and analysis of rumors that are relevant to Health Surveillance.
