Design and Evaluation of a Prototype Application for the Mental Health of LGBTQIAPN+ Youth: A User-Centered Approach

Abstract

Introduction: Mental health support for LGBTQIAPN+ university students demands inclusive human–computer interaction solutions. This study employs co-design to ensure that the mobile application meets the specific needs of this audience. Objective: To design and evaluate a prototype mobile application aimed at supporting the mental health of university students who identify as members of the LGBTQIAPN+ community. Methodology: Computing undergraduates aged 18 to 25 participated. The process included a questionnaire for requirements gathering, brainstorming, and evaluation with qualitative and quantitative data collection. Results: 93.8% of participants found the prototype intuitive and easy to use, suggesting adjustments to the color palette and visual design to reinforce accessibility.
