Entanglement Theories and Speculative Design in Computing: A Systematic Literature Mapping and Implications for Human-Computer Interaction.
Abstract
Introduction: This paper presents a systematic mapping of the literature on the application of Entanglement Theories (such as Actor-Network Theory, Speculative Realism, Agential Realism, and Postphenomenology) in Speculative Design within Computing. Objective: To identify trends, conceptual and methodological gaps, and the ways these theories are appropriated in the context of speculative practices. Methodology: Forty publications were analyzed, selected based on criteria such as the explicit use of these theories in speculative practices. Results: These theories are still applied in a fragmented manner, yet they hold potential for more relational and post-anthropocentric design practices. The study contributes to expanding the theoretical foundations of HCI, guiding critical and situated agendas.
