The Proceedings of the 5th Brazilian Symposium on Software Components, Architectures, and Reuse (SBCARS 2011) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held from September 26-30, 2011, in the city of São Paulo/SP, Brazil, as part of the 2nd Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft 2011). In this issue, the proceedings include 13 full papers. All the papers received at least three reviews. The event's program committee was coordinated by Eduardo Santana de Almeida (UFBA), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on 06/13/2011, and accepted for publication on 07/23/2011, with the final version submitted on 07/31/2011.
