The Proceedings of the 36th Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES 2022) bring the papers selected and presented in the online edition of the event, held in Uberlândia/MG, from October 03-07, 2022, as part of the 13th Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft 2022). In this issue, the proceedings include 53 full papers distributed in four tracks: Research Track, Education Track, Insightful Ideas and Emerging Results Track, and Tools Track. These works were selected through a double-blind review. This volume was organized by Christina von Flach (UFBA) and Elisa Yumi Nakagawa (USP), program committee coordinators of the Research Track; Andreia Malucelli (PUC-PR) and Igor Wiese (UTFPR), program committee coordinators of the Education Track; Carla Silva (UFPE) and Rohit Gheyi (UFCG), program committee coordinators of the Insightful Ideas and Emerging Results Track, and finally, Sabrina Marczak (PUCRS) and Igor Steinmacher (UTFPR), program committee coordinators of the Tools Track.
