The Proceedings of the 2nd Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES 1988) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Canela/RS, from October 27-28, 1988. In this issue, the proceedings include 15 papers. These papers were selected through a peer-review. The event's program committee was coordinated by Ana Regina Cavalcanti da Rocha (UFRJ), who organized this volume.
