The Companion Proceedings of the 12th Brazilian Symposium of Robotics (SBR 2020) & 17th Latin American Robotics Symposium (LARS 2020) bring the Proceedings of the 8th Workshop on MSc and PhD Works in Robotics and of the Graduate Works Contest in Robotics (WTDR/CTDR 2020) the papers selected and presented in the online edition of the event on November 11-12, 2020, as part of the XVII Latin American Robotics Symposium (LARS 2020), XII Brazilian Robotics Symposium (SBR 2020) and XI Workshop on Robotics in Education (WRE 2020). In this issue, the proceedings include 11 full papers. These papers were selected through a blind review, from a total of 14 full papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 93%. The WTDR/CTDR 2020 program committee was coordinated by Reinaldo Bianchi (Centro Universitário FEI) and Anderson Abner de Santana Souza (UERN), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on 09/02/2020, accepted for publication on 10/11/2020, with the final version submitted on 10/25/2020.
