Emergent Systems in Brazilian Public Health: An Analysis of Whatsapp use for Cancer Diagnoses
Abstract
Health Information Systems implementation in the Brazilian context is a hard task. The complexity of this process is not limited strictly to technical perspective, but also involves interactions and social dynamics. This complexity involves understanding the urgent nature of health service, particularly the use of emergent social systems to support related activities. This paper aims to describe a case that analyzes Whatsapp as an emergent system being used by a group of doctors in the oncological diagnoses context. Complexity in this context was observed based on the theory of systemic thinking.
