The Workshop on Advanced Virtual Environments and Education (WAVE2) is a joint organization of the Special Commission on Informatics in Education of the Brazilian Society of Computing (SBC) and the Brazilian Association of Distance Education (ABED) and has been held since 2018. Its main goal is to bring together world-class research that addresses, with a high standard of quality, issues relevant to open education and Brazilian distance in order to effectively contribute to the advancement of international knowledge about the themes and their impact on Brazilian practice. Considering the transdisciplinary nature of the phenomena of open and distance education, the two scientific societies understand that collaboration between researchers from related communities progressively improves research on aspects related to technology-mediated education.

The Proceedings of the WAVE2 are published annually, bringing the articles selected for each edition of the event.
