The Workshop on Applied Computing for Environmental Management and Natural Resources (WCAMA) is an event held during the Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC) and aims to promote the effective integration of computing (methodologies and tools) with themes related to the environment (policy and management). As natural resource management is a complex and dynamic activity, it requires the integration between social, political, and technological actors to be effectively developed and implemented. In this context, we seek to discuss from the point of view of computing the development of methodologies and tools for the management of the environment and natural resources. More specifically, efforts are being made to efficiently treat:
i) management and communication between large volumes of data;
ii) the development of techniques for analyzing these data;
iii) optimization, control, and integration of the generated data.
