Resumo

The growing use of online environments by children and adolescents, in Brazil and worldwide, has heightened concerns about their exposure to inappropriate content. This paper presents PatronusNet, a parental control extension for Chromium-based browsers designed to support guardians with different levels of technical knowledge. The tool combines configurable domain-based blocking, term verification in URLs and pages, password protection, filtering scheduling, and local event logging. A stealth mode allows blocking access without displaying a warning page while locally recording a detailed browsing history. As a complementary safeguard, the extension offers guided navigation to assist manual configuration of family-profile DNS resolvers on supported routers. Additionally, a local AI module analyzes visible page snippets and can hide elements exceeding a threshold set by the guardian. In this way, the extension combines ease of use, local processing of analyzed content, and parental control during browsing.
