Visual Analytics Platform for Tourism Intelligence: Tourism Observatory of Alagoas
Resumo
Tourism information managed by public administrations is often distributed across heterogeneous data sources, limiting integrated analysis and the systematic exploration of tourism indicators. This paper presents the Tourism Observatory of Alagoas, a Web-based platform developed and deployed within the State of Alagoas, Brazil, in the governmental tourism context. The platform integrates heterogeneous tourism data into a unified environment composed of a public portal and an analytical dashboard, supported by centralized data management and RESTful Web services. It provides multilingual content in Portuguese, English, and Spanish; geospatial and temporal visualizations; interactive filters; and report generation to explore tourism infrastructure, accommodation capacity, hotel occupancy, average daily rates, and regional indicators. A preliminary functional evaluation based on representative interaction scenarios confirmed the execution of the main workflows and identified issues related to missing-data representation, formatting consistency, and the automatic generation of descriptive text. The results indicate the feasibility of deploying an integrated Web platform for tourism information management, dissemination, and visual exploration in a real governmental context.
