Resumo

The underrepresentation of women in Information Technology fields is a structural challenge that originates in childhood and is permeated by gender stereotypes. This article reports on the experience of the extension project Meninas Digitais (UFSJ), which conducted a sequence of six workshops for girls aged 3 to 8 who were assisted by a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). The objective was to introduce concepts of technology and programming logic in a playful and accessible manner. The methodology was structured around three main areas: representation, through storytelling featuring women pioneers in computing; unplugged computing, using games and a cooking recipe to teach algorithms; and digital literacy, through the multimedia tool Paint. The qualitative evaluation indicated an increase in the girls’ interest and sense of belonging in the digital world, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach in deconstructing stereotypes and fostering interest in the field of computing.
