Resumo

Monetization plays a main role in the design process of games that aim to generate profit, especially if you are trying to expand your market to a more casual player base that is not willing to pay for a game they never played. However, the current absence of a formal method to implement and organize monetization strategies makes the process of monetizing a free to play game harder. The meta-model Meta-F2P was developed to assist game designers in the process of abstracting, defining and applying the most popular monetization strategies to their games. The main goal of this work is to validate the expressivity of the Meta-F2P meta-model by modeling the monetization strategies of five popular games, and based on the results, discuss the meta-model’s current applicability and suggest future possible improvements.
