Data-Driven Career Guidance: A Guide to Choosing the Ideal Career

Abstract


This research explores the use of open data, practical activities, and personal reflection as an approach to guide young people in choosing their professional careers. Based on information from the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO), the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS), and the Higher Education Census, the study culminates in the creation of a practical guide, presented in the form of a book. The guide provides interactive panels that detail formal jobs, undergraduate courses, and salaries in Brazil, as well as proposing reflective activities that help readers align their personal preferences with the demands of the job market. A key component of the guide is the Dashboard, which structures and tracks the readers’ professional decision-making process.
