Digital Games and Design Patterns: A Critical Game Prototype to Inspire Reflections on Their Consequences

Abstract

This article proposes a demonstration at the III WIPlay of a critical game prototype, based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT), with the aim of verifying whether the game encourages reflection on the use of deceptive design patterns in digital games. The demonstration will include a playtest followed by a discussion to identify issues and improve the prototype. The demonstration aims to assess the prototype's content before proceeding with the development of high-fidelity interfaces, ensuring that the message is being understood by the players.
