AFP-OPA: Framework for Peer Choice in Online Peer Assessment

Abstract


Peer Assessment is an alternative assessment method in which students evaluate the work of their colleagues. There are reports from students about feeling uncomfortable about evaluating and being evaluated by peers. A framework has been proposed for the formation of peers based on student characteristics and also a module for detecting possible evaluations poorly performed by students, in support to the teacher. An experiment with 63 students was carried out and initial results indicate that the pairs formed from characteristics can be a way to mitigate these discomforts, as well as indicated a learning gain at the time they perform the evaluations, instead of after receiving feedback activities.
