An educational game to exercise binary search tree properties

Abstract

This paper presents the development process of the educational game "Doce Sort", whose objective is to exercise some properties of binary search trees, aimed at undergraduate students in the field of computing. "Doce Sort" is of the "puzzle" genre, set in a candy store and inspired by commercial games like "Overcooked" and "Candy Crush". It has three game modes: i) allocate; ii) insert and iii) walk, each mode has 15 phases. The objective of the game is to assist computer students in the learning process in trees.
