Journey of Learner Application (JoLApp) - The Power of Generative AI in Lesson Planning with Storytelling

Abstract


Despite the benefits of digital storytelling in the educational context, planning lessons that can align pedagogical content with a good story and the act of storytelling is a challenge for many teachers. In this context, using tools such as Generative AI can contribute to planning lessons that involve digital storytelling, aligning narrative elements of the story with the elements of pedagogical content. The purpose of the JoLApp (Journey of Learner Application) is to provide a simple and intuitive interface where teachers can use the power of Generative AI to assist in planning lessons that involve digital storytelling. The JoLApp allows for the quick filling of information about the learning content of one or more lessons, objectives, and narrative elements (characters, emotions etc.) and then takes care of requesting and displaying digital storytelling from AI. Therefore, JoLApp is a system that allows teachers to plan their lessons in an immersive, engaging, and playful way, while at the same time making their student listeners learn, just as a storyteller makes it possible.
