Computational Fables: A Digital Game to Assess Computational Thinking Skills

Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) is a set of skills, based on Computer Science, that help us solve complex problems. These skills can be developed through various approaches, with games being one of the highlights, as advocated by Game-Based Learning, which promotes learning through play. In this context, we present the Computational Fables project, a digital game developed as part of a master's research, designed as an assessment tool for CT. By applying the game with elementary school students, we identified that games are an efficient resource for evaluating CT skills.
