Alfaba: A Multisensory Tool with a Tangible Interface to Support Literacy
Abstract
This work introduces Alfaba, an educational device designed to support literacy in children, especially those with learning difficulties and from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. Utilizing an interface that combines tactile, visual, and auditory stimuli, Alfaba facilitates the formation of neural connections necessary for reading and writing, based on the principles of neuroplasticity. Tests have demonstrated its effectiveness in enhancing children's engagement and performance in the literacy process. Alfaba's structured multisensory pedagogical approach promotes an inclusive and adaptive learning environment, respecting each student's individual pace. Additionally, the article details the technological architecture of the device and discusses its potential impact on inclusive education.
