AutiViva: Software to help autistic people make everyday decisions
Abstract
This proposal presents the development of AutiViva, a gamified application aimed at assisting adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in improving social and communication skills, which are often impaired by the disorder. The proposal arises in response to the significant increase in ASD diagnoses, especially in adults, and the lack of adequate tools for this audience, as most existing solutions are geared toward children. AutiViva stands out by offering support in everyday situations, with features such as positive feedback provided by a virtual guide dog that appears to guide the user after incorrect answers, promoting a positive and motivating learning environment. Additionally, the app incorporates gamification elements like missions and signal identification, and it is being designed to include new features, such as a chatbot for questions and anxiety-relief techniques. The development of this app, carried out by a person with ASD, offers a unique and innovative perspective, making it an unprecedented contribution to the literature on the subject.
