Alfaba: Development of a Multisensory Tool with a Tangible Interface to Support Literacy in Children with Dyslexia

Abstract


This work details the development of Alfaba, a multisensory tool with a tangible interface designed to support the literacy of children with dyslexia. Based on pedagogical and neuroscientific research, Alfaba was validated through focus groups and individual usability tests. The focus groups provided general insights from educators and children in educational settings, while the individual tests allowed for a detailed analysis of children’s interaction with the device. The implemented improvements aim to enhance the interface, usability, and educational experience. Alfaba stands out as an inclusive tool, with the potential to be integrated into various educational contexts and benefit a diverse range of users.
