AlfaBeto: An Application to Support in the Literacy Process for Children

Abstract

Learning Objects (LO) can be useful tools for the literacy process of children and adults. The present work presents AlfaBeto, an Android LO that helps the learning of new words and their writing through correspondence with images and sounds. We also present an initial evaluation in which the LO was used by children who are in the process of literacy, and also by teachers in this area. We tried to identify the positive and negative aspects observed to contribute to the development of other applications to support literacy and for future improvements in AlfaBeto. Based on the results obtained, we have perceived a high acceptance rate by all participants of this evaluation.
