Benefits of Mental Maps for People with Intellectual Disabilities: a Report of Experience

Abstract


This paper aims to present the mind map's tool and its benefits in the learning of people with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). For this research, the mind mapping tools XMind and miMind were used. The study was divided into 4 parts: Planning, Search and Selection of Tools, Execution and Analysis of Results. The tools were tested in workshops held in the professional inclusion group of the Association of Parents and Friends of Exceptional (APAE) of Serra Talhada and after the workshops, an interview was conducted based in a questionnaire. It was observed that the students were more interested in participating in class after the use of mind map’s tools.
