Abstract

Given the growing interest in the use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) as support tools in the process of teaching and learning, we question whether an Animated Pedagogical Agent (APA) in the role of learning companion agent could act as a motivator. This article proposes the use of a APA in a VLE acting as learning companion in the realization of educational activities. The objective of the paper is to verify that the APA has effectively motivating role in the teaching-learning process. To this end, we conducted a survey with students of Computing who evaluated the intervention of the APA in VLE. The results point to new challenges in the application of Computer in Education.
