Figmatizando Ideias: An Experience Report of Running the In-Person Figma Course in Practice
Abstract
The search for a more dynamic approach in Computer Science education has become increasingly common. The LearningLab project aims to promote courses using active approaches that combine theory and practice. Thus, the course Figmatizando Ideias was conducted with 28 students from the Universidade Federal do Ceará. This paper presents an experience report on the course implementation, based on student perceptions. Data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the majority of students reported understanding the content taught during classes, practicing the knowledge gained, and liking the teaching methodology. Regarding the teaching methodology, the main positive aspects identified were: (i) practical and in-person classes in the laboratory; (ii) an instructor's teaching style that is easy to understand; and (iii) a teaching approach and team of monitors dedicated to student learning.
