Between Play and Bytes: Experiences from a Pilot Project on Computing Education in Early Childhood Education

Abstract


In this paper, we present the experience of a pilot project focused on teaching computer science in early childhood education at a federal public school. The educational technology teachers adjusted their practices based on the draft resolution on the standards for teaching computer science in basic education, along with its three structuring axes: computational thinking, digital culture, and the digital world. Activities aimed at developing computational thinking are reported, highlighting the importance of computer science education for the holistic development of children, fostering skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and responsible access to digital culture.
