Abstract

This article presents a proposal for the development of a mobile application as a tool to promote active modal shift – specifically the use of bicycles – among young students. The application aims to support the Pedal Seguro project, which is based on actions to address barriers such as safety, access to bicycles, maintenance and collective engagement, aiming to reduce dependence on motorized vehicles and, consequently, reduce the number of traffic victims and associated costs. The theoretical basis is anchored in studies on modal shift behavior, especially for the use of bicycles, mobile technologies for engagement and studies of similar programs. In addition, they reinforce the benefits of active mobility for health and the environment. A non-functional prototype was developed to illustrate the main functionalities of the proposed application.
