A Memory Game as an Instrument of Extension Practice: Retelling the History of Women in Computing
Abstract
The project Meninas Digitais no Cerrado aims to empower women in Computing, working in secondary and higher education in IT courses, as well as with the external community. One of its extension activities is the process of retelling the history of women who have contributed to the field, and to this end, a memory game was developed as a strategy to promote female protagonism in Computing. Applied to students in the 3rd year of elementary school, the game features twelve women and their achievements. The workshops demonstrated the importance of a game to stimulate interest in science by highlighting female achievements that are often overlooked in the history of Computing.
