Click, Grade, and Understand: A User-Centered Design for Organizing and Grading Multiple-Choice Tests

Abstract

Manual grading of large batches of multiple‑choice tests is time‑consuming and susceptible to errors. This paper presents DETETIF; a web platform that generates pre‑identified answer sheets; schedules students across classrooms; recognises marks on scanned forms; summarises statistics; and returns clear individual reports. The design cycle involved weekly meetings with teachers; managers; and student representatives produced user stories and guided iterative prototypes through heuristic inspections and controlled tests. The platform grades one hundred tests in about sixty seconds; reached 96;6 % accuracy on 21720 answer sheets; and highlights critical items on a results dashboard. The study indicates that combining Optical Mark Recognition with participatory design improves the user experience and streamlines administrative routines.
