Abstract

One of the main challenges of society is the aging of the population. In a midsize city in Brazil, São Gonçalo, home care services can be offered to assist elders with reduced mobility. However, due to the high rate of violence in certain areas, professionals who assist elders are prevented continuously from visiting them. In this sense, this work proposes using Intelligent Conversational Agents as a tool to perform telecare and minimize some of these challenges, such as the restricted contact between patients and professionals. Through a participatory study, this paper sought to understand how the design of the agent reflects context characteristics. After analyzing the results, it was possible to identify several social features present in the dialogues. Besides, participants also claimed they intend to develop solutions that fit the economic reality of elders.
