Abstract

The situation of abandonment is experienced today by several animals throughout Brazil. This reality is a problem especially in large urban centers where these animals are daily victims of traffic accidents, poisoning, physical aggression, and disease. Animal abandonment is also a matter of public health, as many of the diseases that afflict animals also have the potential for contagion in humans, such as hydrophobia (rabies) and leishmaniasis (kala-azar). Thus, several municipal vehicles today act to combat the problem, conducting vaccination campaigns, castration, adoption, and awareness about the cause, and bring other information to the population. Today, the act of abandoning domestic animals in the street, besides aggravating the problem, constitutes a federal crime, but even such a measure does not prevent this practice from occurring throughout the national territory. This document reports the process of designing a digital solution to the above problems.
