Use of free software in conducting Research and Development projects in the context of Industry 4.0: Case Study with Redmine

Abstract

The study addresses the use of free software, specifically Redmine, to manage R&D projects aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0. The research presents how an open-source tool can be applied to improve efficiency and flexibility in conducting R&D projects within this new industrial paradigm. In the case study, the Redmine tool was used in an R&D project developed in partnership between the Federal University of Uberlândia – UFU and the Electric Power Company – Eletronorte. The work examined the advantages and challenges of using free software, highlighting its ability to adapt to the specific needs of projects that require high automation, digital integration and collaboration.
