Abstract


In this work we discuss the results of a performance comparison between the NCP I8 parallel computer prototype developed at COPPE/UFRJ and the Intel iPSC 860. Tests based on typical seismic programs were carried out and their performance were measured by varying the number of processors, the input/output system, and using different compilers and mathematic libraries for the two computers systems.
