Identification of Markers in Blind Navigation Orientation in Environments

Abstract


This work presents a methodology for landmarks segmentation and identification to be used as reference points for navigation systems for blind people. Assistive technologies are of interest in the possibility to provide people with disabilities a more independent life. The method, in development, propose to solve the problem in a modular procedure in four steps : determining a region of interest, initial image processing, apply methods to thresholding, edge detection and landmark identification. Finally, experiments will be presented with the proposed method and results will be discussed.
