Game design techniques, health, and IoT: An analysis of an authored game applied for hypertension self-care
Abstract
Health games have been increasingly investigated as an alternative to support health professionals and the general population. This article deals with the analysis of an authorial game, which aims to increase the engagement of patients with hypertension with their medical treatment, through the use of the Elemental Tetrad framework. Salus Ciber Ludens (SCL) uses features and concepts of Internet of Things (IoT) to measure patient's data, turning their homes into a gameplay space. Through the division of the components developed in the game before the 4 (four) elements of the Tetrad, an analysis was performed to evaluate if they collaborate with each other to promote the desired user experience, besides exposing the need for improvements.
